Moving around

The public transport in Prague is very efficient and has metro, tram and bus lines. The metro only has three lines but they arrive at the main points of interest and the tram is one of the most popular means of transport.

In the square of Mala Strana, you have to visit the Church of St. Nicholas. From the top, you'll enjoy the stunning views.

Prague's Castle is the largest medieval fortress in the world. Inside, you'll find the Cathedral of Saint Vitus. Inside the castle, there's the Golden Lane which is a short, narrow street named after the goldsmiths who lived here long ago. Kafka lived in this street.

In the Jewish Quarter, Josefov, you can take a tour of the six synagogues.

The summit of Mount Petrin is the perfect place to admire Prague in all its immensity and splendor. The tram is the best way to go.

If you come to Prague, don't miss a representation of the famous Black Theatre, a form of dramatized theater where fantasy is the most important part.

In February, it takes place the Masopust, the Czech Mardi Gras, in Zizkov. The celebration usually ends with a parade through the streets of the city.

In June, the Museums Night takes place. Most of them are open from 19h to 01h.

From mid-June to late July the Traditional Czech Food and Crafts Market is organized. Folk music performances cheer it up.

In July there's the Shakespeare Summer Festival in which his works are represented in the courtyard of the Castle.

In October, it's the turn of the International Jazz Festival. There you can enjoy the performances of national and international groups.

Throughout the city of Prague, you will find shops selling beautiful puppets.

As the name suggests, the Bohemian crystal is from this region so you can find many shops to buy it. It's one of the most typical gifts to buy as a souvenir of the country.

The Wenceslas Square and its surroundings have the largest variety of shops and malls. You can find the most interesting shops in the streets surrounding the square. The luxury shops are on the streets Narodni Trida, Na Prikope and Parizka.

What's cooking?

Eating in Prague is relatively inexpensive. The cuisine is mainly based on dishes made with pork. The most typical is the goulash in any of its variants. It's also very typical to eat something in the streets of Prague. You will find stalls selling sausages of all types imaginable.
