?La Purificadora? is the original name of this historic colonial building. It used to house an ice factory where the water was bottled and purified for the production of ice, hence the water and the water theme found throughout the hotel (like in its 3rd floor pool and lobby water mirror surrounding the Chef?s table).
During the extensive renovation process in charge of the Mexican Architect Ricardo Legorreta -known for his use of bright colors, natural light and thick walls- the archaeologist on site unearthed several original pieces from the building including bottles and other pieces of glass which have been used in part of the process and incorporated into La Purificadora?s overall visual design. With a monochromatic style, the building?s materials are stone (from the original construction), old wood, onyx and specially fabricated floor tile.

La Purificadora is located in the oldest part of the Historic Center of Puebla, a Spanish-colonial treasure filled with elegant 17th and 18th century European architecture and art. It stands next to the Iglesia de San Francisco (St. Francis Church), in front of Puebla?s Convention Center and at a walking distance from The City Contemporary Art Gallery.
