Built in 1814, the business hotel offers a truly relaxing environment with the well-being of the guests the focus at all times. The ground where the hotel stands today was a tavern for travellers as early as the 14th century. In 1802 a man named Peter Mollberg purchased the tavern and replaced it with a 2-storey building which has been continuously renovated and expanded ever since. Facilities available to guests in the 104-room business hotel include a lobby with 24-hour reception and check-out service, a hotel safe, currency exchange facilities, lift access and a bar, pub and restaurant. Guests may also make use of the conference facilities, WLAN Internet access, room and laundry services, and a garage.
Located within the hotel is the popular modern French brasserie 'Cafe le fil du Rasoir'. Each morning the guest breakfast is served in the cafe's atmospheric surroundings. Along with breakfast the cafe offers a diverse menu for lunch and dinner with French influences. The French theme continues with the cafe's bar playing French music and the occasional live special. As with all Elite Hotels the property offers its own English style pub. Provided within a interior furnished directly from England is Helsingborg's largest beer and whiskey selection plus good pub food at reasonable prices.
Although the hotel's history can be traced back to the fourteenth century the present building has only stood on the site since the early 19th century. Nevertheless this building could not be more magnificent or spectacular even if it tried. Resembling a stately home the hotel exterior consists of a three storey beautifully ornate white facade made of stone as well as a fourth floor made up of dormer windows.
If heading south on the E4/E6/E20, take the exit for Helsingborg N and the city centre. After the city hall, turn left towards Stortorget. If heading north on the E6/E20, exit towards Helsingborg and the city centre at turn no. 28. Before the city hall, turn right towards Stortorget.
One of the advantages of a historical building is the natural variation of the rooms, including the 7 suites. They all have their own special charm, making for a pleasant surprise for returning visitors. The amenities, on the other hand, do not vary: all rooms include a minibar, hairdryer, trouser press, a comfortable desk and of course wireless Internet access. Each room additionally features an en suite bathroom with shower and bathtub, satellite TV, a radio, safe and individually regulated heating.
