About Benidorm

To talk about tourism is to talk about Benidorm, there's no other city so prepared to receive and entertain its visitors as the city with more skyscrapers per person in the world and the second with more skyscrapers per square meter after Manhattan. Benidorm offers everything you might want: leisure activities, culture, white sand beaches, gastronomy and night life. There's room for everybody here, from the little ones to the not so little, from the most adventurous to the ones that seek a bit of relax. Benidorm is the perfect place for your holidays.

Moving around

Benidorm has 17 lines of buses and one of tramway so you can go wherever you need to go. You can also walk around on foot to enjoy the old part of town or the long walks by the sea.

Out & About

The main appeal of a city like Benidorm is its beaches. Thanks to its quality, its beaches have a blue flag, the maximum standard given by the European Union. Besides sunbathing, you can also practice some water sports such as scuba diving, paragliding, water skiing or jet skiing. If you don't like water so much, you can also enjoy practicing sports like horse riding or golf or go on a trip to the mountains. You can't miss the old part of town. The best choice is to walk around it and enjoy sights such as Canalejas square, Carrer dels Gats (one of the most famous), San Jaime church or the Castillo with its magnificent views over the sea. The viewpoint of Canfali is the most typical and beautiful view of the city thanks to its white balcony. Playa de Levante has a great seafront promenade for a nice stroll. From any point of Playa del Mal Pas you'll be able to admire the magnificent views of the cliffs below the castle. Aigüera park is the biggest green space of the city and it has two auditoriums and an avenue that crosses it. If you travel with children, the best thing to do is going to any of the theme parks of Benidorm such as Aqualandia, the biggest water park in Europe, or Terra Mítica.

What's going on in

In July takes place the Low Cost Festival, a festival that gathers the best alternative groups of the moment. As in many other cities of the region, Benidorm also has the celebration of Fallas in March as well as Moros y Cristianos in October to commemorate the battles between Moors and Christians. The major festivities of the city take place in November.

Shopping

In Benidorm there are several markets where you can find almost anything. Wednesdays morning, there's Mercadillo de Foietes; Wednesdays and Sundays in the morning, Mercadillo Pueblo and Saturdays and Sundays in the morning, there's El Cisne, an antiques market where, besides shopping, you'll enjoy live jazz music. Some of the main shopping streets of the city are Martínez Alejos or Gran Avenida del Mediterráneo.

What's cooking?

Benidorm's gastronomy is the result of the mixture between several cultures but the main dishes are based on rice or seafood. Some of them are arroz caldoso, seafood soup, arroz a banda, stuffed squids or, for dessert, bollo de San Blas.

Weather

Benidorm enjoys the nice Mediterranean climate with plenty of sunny days and warm weathers all year long (the average temperature is 18º)

So...

The secret of Benidorm is the unique combination of its beaches with the wide range of leisure activities available for everybody. Either if you want to enjoy the sun, practice one of the many sports it offers or live the nightlife, Benidorm is the place to go. No doubt.
