The Alentejo Star Hotel - São Domingos is located in the Mine of Sao Domingos in Baixo Alentejo region, close to the both cities of Mértola and Serpa. A former manor house , was then used as the headquarters of the greatest pyrite mine in the Iberian Peninsula. Entirely restored and redecorated the Hotel has been enlarged following the trace of its peculiar architecture in a perfect symbiosis of a post Victorian and typical Alentejo styles.
The hotel is located in a privileged site, the valley of Guadiana river, where the magnificent landscape, natural environment, inhabitants, history, tradition, culture and handcrafts, typical gastronomy, cheese, olive oil and wines defile in front of the visitor’s eyes.
The Hotel offers a superb accommodation in its 25 standard rooms (new building wing) and 6 superior rooms (in the ancient palace). All of the rooms present a magnificent decoration and are fully equipped with private bath, satellite tv, telephone, mini-bar, safe-deposit and air conditioned. Standard rooms display a private veranda with a beautiful river beach or pool view. Superior rooms also include jaccuzzi and king-size bedded rooms.

This exclusive hotel lies on the edge of the nature reserve of Guadiana Valley nestled within approximately 2,000 hectares of natural landscape. It is some 3 km to the centre of Mertola. The beach area is just 50 metres away from the hotel. Lisbon airport is 200 km from the hotel.
